About Us

Indeval is Mexico's Central Securities Depository. It is regulated by the Ministry of Finance (SHCP), the National Banking and Securities Commission (CNBV), and the Mexican Central Bank (Banxico).

The Institute for the Deposit of Securities (Instituto para el Deposito de Valores, or INDEVAL) was created on April 28, 1978, as a government agency. On August 20, 1986, the Institution for the Deposit of Securities (S.D. Indeval, S.A de C.V, or S.D. Indeval) was legally constituted as a for-profit private entity, which began operations in October of that same year.

Significant among its regulations are:

  • Chapter I of Title X of the Securities Market Act.
  • General provisions stating the minimum capitals that the stock exchanges, the institutions for the deposit of securities, and the central counterparties must have.
  • The Payment Systems Act.

Julio Obregón Tirado

Julio has a solid track record in securities deparment operations, custody, clearing and settlement; He currently serves as Chief Operations and Settlement Officer of Indeval. He has over 35 years of experience in the financial sector, in key areas that have allowed him to develop a comprehensive understanding of financial and post-trade infrastructure. He has held executive positions, notably his role as Sr Vice President of Operations and Control at JP Morgan Mexico, as well as his participation at BBVA, where he was in charge of custody operations. He has also been active in associations such as ACSDA, WFC, ISSA, and SMPG.

Instruments

Indeval performs the custody, clearing, and settlement of all the instruments traded in the stock market, which are registered at the National Securities Registry (RNV), as well as money market instruments and foreign instruments traded through the International Trading System (SIC), among the most noteworthy:

Responsables de gestionar (identificar, mitigar y reportar) los riesgos que se sean identificados por el personal o usuarios externos.

Responsables de garantizar y supervisar que el perfil de riesgo se encuentre alineado con las políticas establecidas. Así como verificar que Indeval cuente con un sistema eficaz de controles y vigilancia.

Responsables de evaluar y hacer recomendaciones para mejorar los controles internos, las reglas y procedimientos establecidos.

For all the instruments described above, Indeval offers services of:

  • Deposit and custody of securities, consisting of physical deposit and electronic registration of securities at Indeval
  • Administration and payment of the Exercises of Rights of national and foreign instruments
  • Electronic Transfer of Securities
  • Determination of net amounts and volumes to be exchanged in money and securities
  • Settlement of operations in national and international markets
  • Settlement of Repo Transactions
